This board has been in development since idol shaper Alex Brost shaped his first ocean surfboard in 2009. It began as a combination of the best features he found in ocean surfboards for a progressing intermediate great lakes and ocean surfer, and has changed throughout the years to be what Alex refers to as a “One Board Quiver”. The board has evolved as Alex has traveled surfed with generations of this shape across the globe and back home to his home breaks on the Northshore of Minnesota.
This newest generation of this board measure in at 6’1″ x 19.5″ x 2 3/8″ and features a fast outline and flat rocker (with enough nose-flip to make bigger steep drops), combined with a deep single-to-double concave that works with the thruster fin setup and wide swallow tail to generate speed in smaller waves and through flat sections. The board has a bit more volume than most ocean boards of its size to accommodate for the buoyancy (or lack thereof) difference between salt and fresh water.
All-in-all, this board can handle almost anything the ocean throws at it, from thigh-high mush to overhead bombs. Its a go-to shape for any progressing shortboard rider.
